Development: The 777X program was launched in November 2013, in response to competition from Airbus's A350 XWB.

The design incorporates technologies from the Boeing 787 Dreamliner.  

Variants:The program includes two main passenger variants: the 777-8 and the 777-9, and also a freighter variant the 777-8F.  

Key Features:

• The folding wingtips allow for increased wingspan during flight, enhancing fuel efficiency, while still enabling the aircraft to fit within existing airport gate restrictions.  
• The GE9X engines are among the most powerful and efficient commercial jet engines ever developed.  
  Challenges and Delays:

Current Status:
The 777X is undergoing flight testing. The intended entry into service has been pushed back, with expectations of it entering service in 2026.
